  • White Peony Cake can be called the "double-edged sword" in the world of white tea, inheriting the elegance and nobleness of Baihao Yinzhen and the rich fragrance of Shoumei. This unique beauty of balance makes it highly respected among new tea drinkers. Even experienced old tea connoisseurs find it difficult to resist its fresh and lively temperament and uplifting floral rhythm. Such a fascinating tea is indeed worth savoring its charm.
  • The artistic conception of "the beauty of April on earth is gone, and the peach blossoms in the mountain temple are in full bloom" is a true portrayal of the growth of white peony. The raw materials for this tea come from a secret mountain area at an altitude of 700 meters in Fuding, which is surrounded by clouds and fog all year round. The low temperature environment and moderate light created by the high altitude breed abundant amino acids and aromatic substances. The significant temperature difference between day and night allows the tea tree to form a delicate balance between photosynthesis and respiratory metabolism, making the tea soup rich and mellow, durable in brewing, the leaves delicate but thick, and the aroma distinctly layered.
  • The secret of White Peony Cake lies in the philosophy of tea making according to the ancient method. Only two processes, withering and baking, are carried out to preserve the authenticity of the tea leaves to the greatest extent possible. Behind the seemingly simple craftsmanship, there are actually mysteries: the tenderness of the tea leaves, the intensity of sun exposure, and the duration of water flow, each step requires the craftsman's full concentration. This technique of "talking to tea" is like a test of patience, and only with sincerity can each piece of tea be able to show its truest posture.
  • This is a White Peony Cake to be enjoyed for flavor and certainly a great choice for aging. The white tea cultivars grown in the mountains near Fuding City are recognized for offering exceptional aromas and flavors. Spring-pick leaves were pressed into cakes preserving the prized tastes of spring and they promise a tea that will age very well. One can then enjoy the best of both worlds – the fresh flavors of spring and nuanced flavors aging will bring forth.
  • The White Peony Cake is made with white peony (Bai Mu Dan) leaves, which impart a vibrant floral aroma and a delightful sweetness to the brew. Despite containing numerous tips and young leaves, this tea remarkably offers a robust flavor and a full-bodied mouthfeel. It is an exceptional tea that can be enjoyed immediately or aged for further enhancement of its qualities.
  • Place the white peony tea cakes pressed into small pieces in a container, slowly pour in hot water, and watch the tea leaves slowly expand like a blooming peony. The first whiff of the fragrance is refreshing, and the mellow honey flavor lingers on the tongue. After a few cups, the whole body feels as comfortable as a spring breeze, and the heart seems to be blooming with peonies. Whether drinking alone or sharing, you can start a tea fragrance journey at any time.

smooth, earthy, tangy

The aroma is strong enough you smell it through the paper. Very pungent and sharp that peaked my curiosity even more so. Impressed with the packaging. They put it inside a sealed bag you can store to keep from light and potential moisture. The cake is about 4 inches in diameter. Full leaves, dark color similar to Puher leaves.
Tea liquor is very light at first in color and clean. The sharp aroma pulls through the flavor profile. It is an earthy sweetness, but with a tangy punch due to aging. Unique profile for a white tea. I've been on a white tea kick for a while.

Quite nice and a good value

But I was pleasantly surprised when I put the some tea in a warm pot to smell the dry aroma -- it was richer than I'd expected. And once brewed, the tea was quite lovely. Light, sweet, fragrant, with some nice complexity that lets you know you're drinking tea and not simply sweet water.

Taste is just right!

A very mellow aged white tea... great for everyday drinking, or even better, put in the closet to age a few more years

Delicious when steeped long enough and at the right temperature

A quality Bai Mu Tan tea best steeped in distilled water heated just shy of a full boil.

Good Chinese white tea

It is pretty close to what we had in China. It is the first one on the top list of white tea that is actually what people would consider legit white tea in China. All the others are either not from Fuding China, or in tea bags that are not really a thing in China.
