About MoriMa Tea

Chinese Tea, Family, and a Taste of Home

MoriMa Tea is built around a simple idea: tea is more than a drink. It carries the character of a place, the work of the people who make it, and the memories created around it.

Our connection to tea reaches back through generations of family life in China. From the tea shared at home to the teas carried across borders as gifts, tea has always been closely connected with family, tradition, and a sense of belonging.

Today, MoriMa Tea brings that connection into a modern tea experience, making authentic Chinese tea and traditional teaware easier to discover, understand, and enjoy.

We believe good tea should have a story behind it — a place of origin, a way of making it, and people who care about how it reaches the cup.

Why MoriMa Tea?

Chinese tea is a world of remarkable variety.

The character of a tea can be shaped by its origin, season, cultivation, processing, aging, storage, and brewing method. The teaware used to prepare it can also change the way the tea is experienced.

That is why we look beyond the tea itself.

From a simple cup to a traditional Gaiwan or a Yixing and Zisha teapot, the right teaware can become part of the ritual of tea.

At MoriMa Tea, we want to make it easier for tea drinkers to explore these traditions while finding pieces that feel natural in their own daily lives.

What We Offer

MoriMa Tea specializes in Chinese tea, traditional teaware, tea sets, and accessories for tea drinkers who appreciate both the character of the tea and the experience of preparing it.

The Story Behind MoriMa Tea

Tea, Family, and Distance

MoriMa Tea family heritage photograph

The story of MoriMa Tea is closely connected with our family.

In the 1960s, my grandfather's brothers left their hometown in China and moved to Malaysia. At a time when communication across distance was difficult, letters became an important way for family members to stay connected.

There was another way, too.

Tea could travel.

Minnan tea was relatively easy to carry and became something the family could send or bring as a gift. When my grandfather prepared and shared that tea, it was more than something to drink. It carried the taste and feeling of home across a long distance.

For the family, that familiar flavor became connected with what they remembered as an “ancient taste” — a taste associated with home, family, and the place they came from.

A Taste of Home

MoriMa Tea family story and memories of home

As the years passed, distance remained part of the family's story.

Returning home was not always easy, and family members built their lives in different places. Yet tea remained a simple way of preserving a connection.

A cup of tea could bring back memories of people, places, conversations, and home.

That connection between tea and family became an important part of why tea means so much to us today.

MoriMa Tea is not only about selling tea. It is about preserving and sharing some of the feelings that tea can carry — affection for family, memories of home, and the quiet pleasure of sharing something meaningful with others.

Ivan Lin

Founder & CEO

Ivan Lin of MoriMa Tea sharing his connection with tea

Ivan Lin grew up in a family with a deep connection to tea.

For generations, members of the family have been connected with tea growing and the world surrounding tea. From an early age, Ivan saw tea not simply as a beverage, but as something shaped by land, climate, time, craftsmanship, and people.

That perspective continues to influence MoriMa Tea.

Tea brings together many things that are easy to overlook when we simply see the finished cup: the place where it grows, the people who cultivate and process it, the traditions passed down through generations, and the person who eventually prepares and shares it.

For Ivan, tea became more than part of family life. It became a way to connect people with Chinese tea culture and with the stories behind the tea they drink.

Tea and the Life Around It

Tea is connected to everyday life.

It begins with the people who grow and harvest it, continues through the makers and craftspeople who process and shape it, and comes alive again when someone prepares a pot or cup to share with others.

This relationship between tea and the people around it is one of the ideas that continues to shape MoriMa Tea.

We appreciate the quiet details: the texture of a handmade teapot, the aroma released when hot water meets tea leaves, the changing flavor of a tea through several infusions, and the simple moment of sitting down to enjoy it.

These details are part of what makes tea a lasting experience rather than simply a beverage.

What MoriMa Means

White Tea

The name MoriMa represents our pursuit of nature, environment, happiness, and hope.

Tea begins with nature. It reflects its environment and the care of the people who work with it.

At the same time, tea has a way of bringing people together.

A shared pot can create a pause in a busy day. A familiar aroma can bring back a memory. A traditional teapot can connect a modern tea drinker with a craft that has been practiced for generations.

For us, MoriMa represents that connection between nature, people, culture, and everyday life.

Our Mission

Our mission is to share authentic Chinese tea and the culture surrounding it with tea drinkers around the world.

We believe every tea has something behind it — an origin, a craft, a history, and the people who helped bring it to life.

The same is true of traditional teaware.

A Gaiwan, a Yixing teapot, a complete tea set, or even a simple cup can become part of a personal tea ritual.

Our goal is to make these experiences easier to discover while respecting the traditions from which they come.

Whether you are beginning your journey into Chinese tea or have been drinking tea for many years, we hope MoriMa Tea can help you find something worth returning to.

More than a cup of tea, there is a story behind it.
