Description
  • Material: Porcelain
  • Origin: Yuzhou, Henan.
  • Jun Porcelain Teapot: 10.5cm x 7.5cm, capacity 120ml.
  • Historic Jun Kiln The Jun Kiln of the Song Dynasty was one of the five great kilns (五大名窑), along with the Ru Kiln (汝窑), Guan Kiln (官窑), Ding Kiln (定窑), and Ge Kiln (哥窑). Jun Kiln was particularly well-known for its unique multi-colored blue glazes with hints of purple, and for the fine forms of its ceramics. Jun-style porcelain was originally created in the Song Huizong period of the Song Dynasty in China (1082) and was produced in Yuzhou City, Henan Province. Over the years, more modern teaware has continued to be made in the style of pieces from the original Jun Kiln.
  • The striking dappled patterns of Jun Kiln’s signature glaze are made by painting on multiple layers of glaze and using many natural metal oxide pigments to make layers of different colors. The ceramic is fired at a very high temperature that is very carefully controlled to let the glaze gently flow down the sides of the cup like a stream of water, creating dense feathered visuals of multiple colors.
  • A showy ceramic teapot striking multi-colored blue glaze in the style of the famous historic Jun Kiln. Jun Kiln’s signature dappled blue glaze has shades of light to deep blue-black with irregular accents of warm brown and sometimes purple around the edges. Each pot’s pattern is unique.
  • The body is made of iron-rich clay from the original ore, which is completely hand-pulled and shaped, and has been sharpened and refined many times.
  • Kiln changes, because the different colors formed by the changes in the kiln fire, make each pot unique.
  • The glaze of Jun Kiln Ceramics is not chemical but uses more than ten kinds of natural minerals as raw materials.
  • Moon-white Purple Spot Teapot has been said to have "seventy-two processes" since ancient times. Each process is demanding, and if you are not careful, all your previous efforts will be wasted.
  • There is an ancient saying that "even a rich family is not worth as much as a piece of Jun porcelain." This famous saying has been circulated in the collecting community for hundreds of years, which illustrates the status of Jun porcelain in the Chinese collecting community.
  • It emits a kind of simplicity, richness, and ancient beauty, this is why wood-fired pottery artists are fascinated by it and devote a lot of effort to pursue it.
  • The porcelain glaze shows traces of burning and the ash glaze from burning wood. The glaze color changes due to the changes in the kiln fire. Each piece has its glaze and texture.
  • Firewood pursues nature and simplicity, and is as natural as nature. The combination of its "fire marks" and the glaze makes the oil and gold shine brightly.

Beautiful little teapot

Slightly smaller than I had expected, but that’s my fault. A beautiful and delicate teapot, nonetheless. I have yet to use her as I’m busy with work, but I look forward to trying it out! She’s a beauty to have, and the staff was so kind and amazing too!
