Natural Eggplant Form
The rounded, segmented body takes inspiration from the natural form of an eggplant. Its proportions are simple and balanced, with smooth transitions between the body, handle, and spout.
The curved stem-shaped lid knob adds a distinctive detail without making the form overly decorative. The overall shape has the quiet, understated character associated with traditional Yixing teapots.
Raw Ore Red Slope Mud
The pot is made from Raw Ore Red Slope Mud, a symbiotic mineral containing segmental mud, red mud, and a small amount of purple clay.
The resulting clay has a deep red tone with a subtle yellowish translucency, fine texture, visible sandy grain, and a naturally aged appearance.
With regular use, the surface can gradually develop a warmer, softer sheen. This makes the pot particularly appealing to tea drinkers who enjoy seeing a Yixing teapot change through use.
Hand-Carved “Searching in a Pine Stream”
The front of the pot features a hand-carved scene known as “Searching in a Pine Stream.”
Pine trees extend across the lower right side, with rocks and dense branches creating a quiet mountain setting. A scholar walking through the landscape pauses within the forest, suggesting a moment of retreat from the outside world.
The reverse side is engraved with “Xunyou”, echoing the theme of seeking a quiet place and finding a sense of inner calm.
The carving is executed with clean, controlled knife work and flowing strokes, giving the decoration a distinctly handcrafted character.
A 190ml Teapot for Personal Gongfu Tea
At 190ml, this teapot sits between a very small personal pot and a larger shared-brewing vessel.
It is well suited to individual Gongfu tea sessions and can work particularly well when you want a dedicated Yixing pot for one tea or a compatible tea family.
Because unglazed Yixing clay can retain characteristics from previous brewing, many tea drinkers choose to dedicate a pot to a particular tea. Learn more about Yixing teapot flavor carryover.
A Teapot That Develops With Use
Raw Ore Red Slope Mud is valued for its natural texture and ability to develop a richer surface through repeated use.
With regular brewing and proper care, the clay can gradually become smoother and more lustrous, developing the warm character that many Yixing collectors appreciate.
