  • Type: Scented Tea
  • Cultivar: White Buds Chelan
  • Origin: Pinghe, Zhangzhou, Fujian
  • Harvest Date: 2025/04/01
  • Storage Methods: Sealing, Moistureproof, Avoid light.
  • Pomelo Flower tea is the perfect marriage of refreshing White Bud Chelan oolong tea and a pomelo flower scent.  The tea provides a unique taste sensation for a naturally scented tea that allows you to take your oolong tea fix with a captivating twist of pomelo.
  • This Pomelo Flower Tea is distinctive tea that is infused with the fragrance of pomelo blossoms. This tea offers a strong floral and sweet aroma, combining the refreshing essence of pomelo flowers with the rich depth of Oolong tea. It has a smooth taste with complex layers, providing a long-lasting aftertaste. Each sip is filled with natural floral and sweet notes, making it a truly delightful experience.
  • The pomelo flowers are hand-picked in March from Whispers of Tea’s own organic pomelo orchard. The harvest lasts for seven days when the flowers are at their most fragrant and the pollen content is highest. If picking is postponed, the flowers lose their intense aroma, and the bees take all of the pollen. The flowers are then blended with their oolong counterpart using the “Xun” method.
  • “Xun" is an ancient method for making floral teas. The character "窨" is pronounced the same as "yin" and has the same meaning as "薰" (to infuse). The process involves evenly mixing tea leaves with fresh flowers. Through the capillary action of the tea leaves, the floral fragrance is absorbed and blends with the tea aroma. The mixture is then dried at a low temperature for two days, which not only preserves the floral fragrance but also prevents the flowers' color from browning. This is how Pomelo Oolong is made—a tea that is addictively aromatic and unapologetically quenching.
  • The brew itself is pale gold in color, refreshing on the tongue, and noticeably sweet.  If let to cool for a little while, this tea becomes very oily, coating the tongue and mouth very nicely.  The pomelo flower notes come out more and more as the infusions progress, eventually subsiding to sweet vegetation.  The empty cup aroma is consistently redolent of melted butter mixed with sugar with a distinct note of fresh flowers.

Soothing tea

It absolutely captivated me! So I went on a hunt to find this tea so I can enjoy it at home also. This is close, but distinctly different than that tea I had that day. I know that is pretty irrelevant to a review. I needed to just make sure you all know that I was hunting for the perfect cup of tea, and this is pretty darn close! It has a stronger flavor than I was expecting, but that is it, this tea has SO much flavor! Some of the teas I have tried in my search are weak or they just taste bitter and harsh. This tea is so far removed from that. It is soft, flavorful and it does not leave a harsh aftertaste. I can drink this all day, and it invigorates me with every sip! The scent is soothing and very pleasant, and brings a smile to my face every time I open the cabinet I keep it in.

Love it at first sip. My new go to hot tea.

Love this tea! I have had at least 1 lge 18oz cup everyday since it arrived. I do have a teapot that I can set for time and temp but chose to use my Ninja Hot & Cold coffee/tea brewer. With these settings, it comes out perfect. Packaging is perfect as well. It is in a resealable bag so if you don't own a large enough tea tin, you can still purchase this 1lb size. I will definitely be purchasing again - Most likely soon at the rate I consume tea. And I am tempted to try the green tea by this same company.

Excellent "oolong" at an unbelievably affordable price.

The physical quality of this tea is outstanding. The leaves are nice, tightly rolled balls, which expand to ENORMOUS, full leaves. Make sure you have plenty of room in your tea-making vessel of choice, because the leaves need a ton of space to fully unfurl. I see little to no stems or dust in the package, which is a thick zip-top plastic bag that has plenty of "air cushion" sealed in to prevent damage to the tea. The aroma is fairly floral in nature (again, similar to green tea, in my opinion). The flavor is also somewhat similar to green tea, without the astringent nature that some greens tend to have, and a subtle amount of oolong earthiness (enough to know that it is, in fact, an oolong tea a not green). To be honest, I was hoping for a more oxidized oolong when I ordered this, but since I like green tea, too, I am actually really enjoying this tea.

Great for everyday sipping

This variety takes me back to my childhood, when American Chinese restaurants weren't so homogenized as they are today. Our favorite places served the table with steaming cups of golden oolong, steeped in stainless steel pots, and we'd finish our dinner with one last cup of tea and an almond cookie or two. Great balanced, honey grapefruit fragrance, too.

Decent Scent & Flavor

This tea has a good flavor and aroma. The directions on the package call for using 1-2 Tbsp. of the tea. Maybe that is for a whole pot of tea because it is way too much for one cup! I use 1 heaping teaspoon for my 16 oz. teapot for my preferred taste.
